2. Question
1 pointsConsider the following statements about RO (Reverse Osmosis) water filter systems-
- No external pressure is required for its functioning.
- It uses a semi-permeable membrane.
- Water is wasted in the filtering process involving RO.
- The RO process also removes essential Ca, Zn and Mg which are essential for the body.
Which of the above is not correct?
Correct
https://www.civilsdaily.com/news/ro-based-water-filtration-systems/
Statement 1 is not correct.
In order to force the solvent from high concentration liquid through the semi-permeable membrane, external pressure is required.
As we observe in our homes the outlet from the Water Filters throws out a significant amount of water and hence that water is wasted.

Question 3 of 5
3. Question
1 pointsConsider the following statements about India’s human genome mapping project-
- It will be the first project in the world undertaken to map the human genome.
- Humans have between 20000 and 25000 genes.
- Cystic fibrosis is a disorder associated with single-gene.
Which of the above is/are correct?
Correct
https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/explained-what-is-genome-mapping-6257855/
https://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/primer/basics/gene
Statement 1 is not correct.
One of the most comprehensive genome mapping projects in the world is the Human Genome Project (HGP), which began in 1990 and reached completion in 2003. The international project, which was coordinated by the National Institutes of Health and the US Department of Energy, was undertaken with the aim of sequencing the human genome and identifying the genes that contain it. The project was able to identify the locations of many human genes and provide information about their structure and organisation.
According to the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), genome maps have been used to find out genes that are responsible for relatively rare, single-gene inherited disorders such as cystic fibrosis and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Question 5 of 5
5. Question
1 pointsWith reference to communications technologies, what is/are the difference/differences between LTE (Long-Term Evolution) and VoLTE (Voice over Long-Term Evolution)?
- LTE is commonly marketed as 3G and VoLTE is commonly marketed as advanced 3G.
- LTE is data-only technology and VoLTE is voice-only technology.
Select the correct answer using the code given below.
Correct
In LTE, the voice quality reduces while making voice calls with the data connection on, thus urging you to turn off the cellular data to enjoy a better voice call service. Some networks would automatically stop the data transfer process to preserve the voice quality over 2G/3G bands. However, the cellular data won’t interfere with the voice call service in case of VoLTE, allowing for uninterrupted voice calling services even with the data connection on.
