UPSC IAS exam Pattern and Syllabus
Every year Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Exam for coveted services like IAS, IPS, and IFS. Lakhs of aspirants appear for this exam. With its huge syllabus and multiple stages – Preliminary, Mains, and Interview, it is known as the toughest competitive exam in India.
More than 10.5 lakh applied, but only 796 are going to clear IAS 2020. It is going to be much more challenging in 2021 and 2022.
The first stage, Prelims, comprises two objective-type exams GS paper and CSAT, while the Mains consists of nine subjective or essay-type papers covering a broad range of subjects and current affairs of national and international importance. Those who clear the cutoff for mains then appear for the third and final stage, Personality test or UPSC IAS Interview.
The syllabus of UPSC IAS exam is covered through a wide range of sources from NCERT books, standard books for static part of the syllabus, current affairs from daily newspapers like The Hindu, The Indian Express, PIB, etc.
