In a recent scientific research paper, it has been claimed that climate change will increase the destructive power of the tsunamis. It is pertinent under these circumstances to discuss about Tsunamis as well as the preparedness as mentioned by NDMA.

The question has three parts which need answering. First of all we need to explain what causes tsunamis; implications on life and economy of Tsunami. Finally, we need to discuss the different kinds of preparedness as mentioned in the NDMA guidelines and their working.

Towards the end suggest other measures like coastal zone regulations; management of mangroves; retrofitting for tsunami resistance of all buildings; appropriate planning, designing, construction of new facilities; public awareness campaigns; drawing of proper relief distribution system and evacuation plans in Tsunami prone areas etc.
