Mentor’s Comments-
- Explain what you understand by cloudbursts.
- Highlight the effects of the cloudbursts.
- Explain the mechanism behind the phenomenon of cloudbursts.
- Highlight reasons behind their greater frequency in the Himalayan region.
- Conclude by mentioning steps that can be taken to mitigate their effects.
those who don’t buy it – will there answers get checked ?

Decent attempt.
Introduction is good, nice that you have mentioned IMD definition.
Formation is not required here, you can explain in detail the formation in Himalayan region in the later part.
Effects mentioned are fine, urban floods (Mumbai, 2005); soil erosion and leaching etc could also be mentioned.
Next part could be better, you have just mentioned some of the factors such as lofty peaks.. winds etc. You can explain the mechanism involved- orographic lift(rapid convective lifting of moist air mass under steep orographic conditions results in the formation of cumulonimbus clouds which cause heavy rain, thunder & lightning); further absence of upper air movement in this region prevents dissipation and water concentration in the clouds keep on increasing. Diagram showing this would be better.
Climate change can also be mentioned here as factors as rate of warming in this region is higher than average and this high temperature can lead to increased moisture levels which can then manifest as cloudbursts.
Conclusion is fine.
Keep practicing. 🙂

Good attempt.
Intro is fine, it would be nice if you could mention the IMD definition- more than 100 mm rainfall in the span of an hour over an area of 20-30 sq km. Next mechanism has been mentioned, but this could be done at one place when you talk about Himalayan region.
Effects are fine, examples have been mentioned.
Next pary is fine too, good use of diagram.
Way forward is decent, try to give as conclusion after that.
Try to avoid cutting and all in the answer. Keep practicing. 🙂

Please mention your reference ID for reviews.
You have written well, knowledge is good, however, presentation could be a bit better especially organization of the answer.
Introduction is good.
After that, you have tried to explain the mechanism but that is not required at that point, you can explain it when you talk about the Himalayan region. Go according to the flow of the question, mention effects first, you have written the effects well, just add some recent examples.
After that you could talk about the reasons why it is frequent in Himalayan region- you have explained well, diagram is also fine. Try to use the keywords like orographic lift, convective lifting etc. You can also mention the absence of upper air movement in this region which prevents dissipation and water concentration in the clouds keep on increasing.
Conclusion part is good.
Keep practicing. 🙂

Decent attempt, especially the first part of the answer is well written.
Introduction is good, effects are also nicely written, however, you could keep the explanations concise so that by the end of the answer you don’t fall short of space and words.
Mechanism is well explained, again could be kept short, as this is not exclusively asked; you could explain the mechanism in the Himalayan region which is also a reason for higher frequency there and it should suffice- orographic lift(rapid convective lifting of moist air mass under steep orographic conditions results in the formation of cumulonimbus clouds which cause heavy rain, thunder & lightning); further absence of upper air movement in this region prevents dissipation and water concentration in the clouds keep on increasing. Diagram showing this would be better.
Factor of climate change is also explained in detail, which can again be kept short. Try to mention multiple points rather than talking about one point in detail.
Way forward is fine.
Keep practicing. 🙂

Good attempt.
Introduction is fine, process has also been explained in brief.
You could mention the recent examples along with the effects in that part only. Urban floods(Mumbai, 2005) could be added along with soil erosion and leaching.
In next part, points are fine, you could make a diagram.
Also, the mechanism of orographic lift(rapid convective lifting of moist air mass under steep orographic conditions results in the formation of cumulonimbus clouds which cause heavy rain, thunder & lightning) is missing.. Use the keywords.
Climate change can also be mentioned here as factors as rate of warming in this region is higher than average and this high temperature can lead to increased moisture levels which can then manifest as cloudbursts.
Way forward and conclusion are fine.
Keep practicing. 🙂

Hello
First part of the answer has been written decently, second part could be better.
In intro, it would be nice if you could mention the IMD definition- more than 100 mm rainfall in the span of an hour over an area of 20-30 sq km.
Effects mentioned are fine.
In next part, climate change is one of the factors of increasing frequency in Himalayan region. The topography also plays a role which should be mentioned. Diagram showing this would be nice.
Conclusion is fine.
Keep practicing, read a bit about the topic. 🙂

Good attempt.
Introduction is fine, effects are also well written. Nice use of flowchart. Further, some examples could be mentioned in each point.
In next part, points are good. Nice use of diagram. You could also talk about the absence of upper air movement in this region due to lofty mountain peaks which prevents dissipation and water concentration in the clouds keeps on increasing.
Conclusion is fine.
Keep practicing. 🙂
