article/opinion/columns/ criminalisation-of-politics- must-be-curbed-7451116/ - In the intro, mention the recent Supreme Court order about complete disclosure of criminal records of candidates of a party.
- In the body, mention the figures about the legislatures facing criminal charges. Next mention the factors driving the criminalisation such as winnability criteria by political parties, reluctance of political parties to tackle the issue through legislation. In the steps taken mention the previous SC judgements. In the way forward, suggest law on the issue, dealing with the maxim of innocent until proven guilty through way suggested by ECI which is only cases carrying imprisonment for more than 5 years should be considered and filing of case should be at least six months prior to election. Alternatively, cases against the candidates should be tried in fast track courts.
- Conclude by mentioning the importance of informing the public opinion on the issue.

Your answer is fine, language and presentation are good. You need to do some value addition. Mention the need to follow some SC judgements in spirit like Lily Thomas case which talked of immediate disqualification in case of conviction for 2+ years, Public interest foundation vs UoI case.
You can mention some committees like Dinesh Goswami committee, Inderjit committee which talked about state funding of elections which will reduce money and muscle power in elections.
Remaining points are fine, you can add some more if it is a 15 marker.
Keep practicing. 🙂

Introduction is fine. Reasons are also good. You can also mention the people’s choice to vote based on narrow self and community interests as one of the reasons.
Also mention a small section on effects of criminalisation of politics- against the principle of free and fair elections, effects social harmony, good governance etc
In way forward you can mention some committees like Dinesh Goswami committee, Inderjit committee which talked about state funding of elections which will reduce money and muscle power in elections. Also write the SC judgements’ name like Public Interest Foundation vs UOI, Lily Thomas case etc. In last point it should not be within but before 6 months, you can also mention strengthening ECI, RPA Act.
Conclusion is fine. Keep writing. 🙂

Introduction is fine, you can also mention some data regarding the present number of legislators with criminal records. Write the judgement name while writing about it.
In reasons, points are fine. Also mention about the winnability of candidates with criminal records which leads to a lack of political will for reform.
Also mention a small section on effects of criminalisation of politics- against the principle of free and fair elections, effects social harmony, good governance etc
In way forward, mention some SC judgements like Public Interest Foundation vs UoI, which mandated publishing of criminal records, Lily Thomas case where immediate disqualification was made compulsory for conviction of more than 2 years. You can also mention some committees like Dinesh Goswami committee, Inderjit committee which talked about state funding of elections which will reduce money and muscle power in elections.
Mention of SC judgements, committees etc will give you extra marks especially in GS2, try to incorporate them in your answers.
Conclusion is fine. Keep practicing. 🙂
