indianexpress.com/article/ opinion/columns/anti- defection-law-political-party- internal-democracy-7585654/ lite/ - In the intro, mention role of political parties in the representative democracy.
- In the body, mention how internal democracy in parties can ensure equality of representation, check on nepotism, effective leadership etc. In the challenges, mention subversion of internal institutional process, vertical consolidation of factional power, independence and quality of electorate etc.
- Conclude by mentioning that democratic functioning of political parties may be an ideological imperative, operational choice but it cannot be an end in itself for political parties.

Siddharth,
Nice attempt, you have covered the crux of the answer. In intro, you can also mention a bit about the role of political parties in a democracy (capturing state power, vision for society etc).
Arguments in favor of elections are fine, challenges mentioned are okay too- you can add that not necessary that elections will be fair, might end up legitimizing autocratic leadership.
Conclusion is good too, further mention that elections cannot be an end in itself; other reforms are also needed.
Keep writing, good attempt.

Decent attempt, but you have deviated a bit from the question at certain places. In intro, better than writing about democracy write about role of political parties in a democracy.
Arguments in favor of internal democracy (elections within a party) can be written under one subheading only, otherwise some points have been repeated. Also, just having elections doesn’t mean that party will become secular or get rid of caste bias etc. All the candidates contesting elections might be from same religion…you can mention this in challenges..that other reforms are needed too. Other points are good.
In challenges, mention that internal election process itself might be subverted leading to further consolidation of factional power, other points are fine.
Way forward seems directed at family-based parties, you can make it a bit more nuanced, mention some report which has advocated for internal elections, also some other reforms can be mentioned.
Keep practicing. 🙂
