Write a brief introduction. You can mention that India has required an active engagement with various partners since independence for survival, security and development and will further require that in light of emerging challenges such as Covid, turmoil in Afghanistan, assertive China etc
Points mentioned in your answer are fine, but write chronologically. India had balanced relationship with both US and USSR initially, so avoid mentioning just US. Mention NAM first, then 1962 war, then B’desh liberation war, friendship treaty with USSR.
After that also mention 1965 war, tussle over Siachen.
In after Cold War part, mention look east policy( qn is about outside relationships), border agreements with China, nuclear tests, civil nuclear deal with US, 99 war with Pak, challenge of terrorism.
In present situation, also mention some positive points such as focus on neighborhood, surgical strikes, good relations with West Asia, Israel etc
