Mentor’s comment-
- In the intro, mention the demand for TRIPS waiver for ensuring the access to Covid-19 vaccines by all.
- In the body mention the challenges in ensuring the TRIPS waiver. Next, mention India’s leadership through the Vaccine Maitri programme which worked on the premise that “no one is safe until everyone is safe”. Through this initiative, India could supply more than 65 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to about 100 countries. Besides, India also provided critical medicines, diagnostic kits, ventilators and personal protective equipment to more than 150 countries.
- Conclude by mentioning that it’s high time for the global community to act collectively and urgently to address one of the most pressing global health challenges impacting humanity.

Hello
WTO, need for TRIPs waiver, challenges in ensuring TRIPs waiver is nowhere mentioned in the answer.
The question is not just about India’s contribution. Need to substantiate the first statement as well.
On why waiver is needed, you can first mention the severity of the pandemic, also TRIPs limitation for latecomers to the technology race is a historical injustice plus you can also talk about profit-making motive of big pharma, wastage of vaccine doses in western countries(UK example).
In challenges you can mention lack of consensus, also inspite of signing Political Declaration on Equitable Global Access to Covid-19 Vaccines, western countries have not helped in implementing it.
In India’s contribution, you have mentioned some good points but Vaccine Maitri initiative is missing..also no need to mention domestic issues like rural vaccination etc
Points related to exports are good, you can mention about India’s leadership in global south.
In conclusion you can mention need to grant waiver at the earliest in order to scale up production in order to make the population of poorer countries safe.
Address all parts of the question, read the article tagged above before writing answers- it will help you to build your content.

Shri Ram
You have written the ‘ India contribution’ part well but first mention what are the challenges in implementing TRIPs waiver and why a TRIPs waiver is required in the first place.
India’s contribution part is fine.
In conclusion you can mention need to grant waiver at the earliest in order to scale up production in order to make the population of global south safe.
Decent attempt, but try to address all aspects of the question.

WTO members’ positions remain divergent on the equity and inclusion (AEI) for Covid-19 vaccines and other medical products. In light of this, examine the role played by India on the premise that “no one is safe until everyone is safe”. (10 Marks)

Crux of your answer is fine. Introduction is good, while writing about lack of consensus mention which countries are on which side..also you can mention profit-making motive of big pharma, give example of vaccine wastage in countries like UK. Other points are good.
India’s role is specifically asked..so elaborate it a bit. Vaccine Maitri, India’s exports etc are mentioned- this is good. Also talk about India’s leadership of global south especially after development of its indigenous vaccine. Can also mention that India was one of the initiators of the “Political Declaration on Equitable Global Access to Covid-19 Vaccines” in March 2021.
Conclusion is fine.
Keep writing. 🙂
