Mentor’s Comments-
- In introduction, talk about the subsidies given by the government on various agricultural inputs.
- Examine the effects of the subsidies on cropping pattern, crop diversity and economy of farmers- although economically helpful for farmers leads to distorted cropping patterns, poor soil health, food inflation etc
- Mention the significance of crop insurance, MSP and food processing one by one.
- Conclude by saying farming needs to be made remunerative by reforms in entire farm-to-fork chain rather than by just making it subsidy-dependent.

Hello
In intro if you can mention some of the major subsidies like fertilizer, seed, electricity etc it will be good. You can also mention amount announced in budget for fertilizer subsidy.
Points mentioned in about crop diversity, pattern and economy are fine. Monoculture, rice-wheat cropping is mentioned- that is good. Also mention impact on soil health, groundwater etc
It is not clear what exactly you mean by cost-based management- a bit of elaboration will be better.
Next part is also okay but mention some important advantages of insurance(PMFBY- how it works). MSP- who gets..for which all crops..advantages. Importance of food processing industries near farms should be mentioned..especially for perishable/weight loosing raw material
Also better use middlemen/arhatiyas instead of upper caste/class..or you can mention source of these arguments.
Write a concluding statement.
Keep practicing. 🙂
How do subsidies affect the cropping pattern, crop diversity and economy of farmers? What is the significance of crop insurance, minimum support price and food processing for small and marginal farmers?

Intro is fine but generic, mention some data regarding various subsidies provided–fertilizer (more than 79000 cr announced in the budget), seeds, electricity etc.
In cropping pattern, mention monoculture, impact on soil health, groundwater; in diversity mention overproduction of cereals such as paddy and wheat..which gets wasted in FCI godowns due to purchase on MSP.
Rest of the explanation is fine.
In 2nd part also mention some details about Fasal Bima, MSP- how is it decided, for how many crops etc, some advantages.
This is a 15 mark question, so some detail would be expected.
Conclusion is fine.
Keep writing. 🙂
