Mentor’s Comments-
- Discuss briefly the meanings of the terms ‘consumerism’ and ‘contentment’.
- Compare and contrast both.
- Explain how attitude of contentment helps check consumerist passions.
- Use ancient Indian political thought, views of Gandhi on trusteeship etc to make your case.
- Conclude suitably.
Plz check it.

You have attempted decently but you have diverted a bit towards nation building and all in the end.
Intro is fine, table is also good. Then explain a bit how contentment is an antidote to consumerism.
Consumerism derives strength from animalistic desires of possession, contentment is based on idea of satisfaction. Then differentiate between wants and needs.
Drawbacks of consumerism haven’t been mentioned properly- effect on nature, mental peace etc. Present both sides before coming to conclusion.
Para about Gandhiji is good..you can also mention trusteeship model..also concept of ‘Aparigrah’ that is ‘non-accumulation’ from Indian political thought can be mentioned.
Conclusion is fine..you can end with Gandhiji’s quote about need and greed.
Keep practicing. 🙂

Hello
Decent attempt; but you have just presented one side of the argument..contentment part is well explained..also mention what do you understand by consumerism and its draw backs- effect on nature, mental peace etc.
Consumerism derives strength from animalistic desires of possession, contentment is based on idea of satisfaction. Then differentiate between wants and needs.
Examples are fine, it should be sarvodaya instead of satyagraha..you can also mention trusteeship model..also concept of ‘Aparigrah’ that is ‘non-accumulation’ from Indian political thought can be mentioned.
Conclusion is fine..you can end with Gandhiji’s quote about need and greed.
Keep practicing. 🙂
