What precautions are needed while criticizing the performance of subordinates? Suppose you are head of a disaster management team. You have assigned the task of distribution of foodgrain to one of your subordinates which he is unable to handle properly. How will you comment on his performance? (250 words)

Civil servants must ensure that they analyze the performance of their juniors critically. They should let their juniors know about these shortcomings so that they can improve upon them. Following precautions are needed while criticizing the performance of subordinates:
• Specificity: Criticism or comments should be specific.
• Providing or suggesting a solution: The senior civil servant should offer a solution to the shortcomings.
• Face to face contact: They should say whatever they want to say on the face of the subordinate.
• Empathy: The subordinate should be treated in an empathetic manner. One should always remember that mistakes in performance take place because of lack of experience. So rather than being rude or arrogant, they must be soft towards their subordinates or juniors.

While making comments on the performance of a subordinate who has been involved with the distribution of food grain, comment should be specific that in a particular village 2 or 4 families have been left out and could not be provided with food grain.

The subordinate could be suggested that this omission could be corrected while providing them food grain in the second round. It is always better to call the officer separately and tell him instead of making this comment when he is not there. Since the officer is quite junior and lacks experience hence one should be empathetic to him. He should tell him that though he has performed well but there are certain things which he can improve upon next time.

Good answer but i think point no .6 is redundant in first part.. And 2nd part can be more formal to the demand of question. Rest is fine. Good Use of ethical values to substantiate answer.
